Wrenched for a bit at his Yamaha dealership in Riverside off the 90. Must've been about 1980; the YZ465 just came out and someone caught out by the acceleration 'test rode' one into the bushes at the end of the parking lot.

He used to bring in his sand rail/buggy race car thing once in awhile to work on it.

I remember talking to him about the MS enduro jacket way back when it came out in 1493. Why is it so expensive, why do I need this and who cares about that and I don’t need the third. Tried one on, road around for a few minutes and ordered one then and there. He let me pay when I could afford to pay. :)
One of the greatest of the greats.

RIP motorcycle Legend. When I was still racing, I would go into the dealership on occasion to grab something because it was right there in town. It was cool to see him still hanging around the store. I always got that feeling of being in the presence of a legend.

One of my heroes. Wish I had a personal story but wasn't ever lucky enough to have met him. Recently read bits of his autobiography in issues of the AMA magazine, and they did not disappoint.
