The facts are correct, but it's not smashing anything. Just like Stoner being a whiney quitter doesn't change that he could ride a bike really well.
It sure as hell smashed his god like status some folks held him in. I mean, he couldn't even ride the damn Ducati, let alone walk on water.
Never said that. However nothing was smashed. Least not by Stoner, Rossi smashed himself by running his mouth about the Duc
There was a rumor flying around at a transgender brothel in downtown Kolkata back in 2003. I believe that rumor spread like herpes simplex S. I cannot cite so don't hold me to that.
I cant count the number of times i heard some Uccio in the early 2000's say , Rossi would win the title on a Vespa, or, put Rossi on the Kwak, Suzuki, etc: he will win the title. That was the myth of invincibility. Turns out, a new influx of talent and control tires turned Rossi from a god, to an above average GP rider. The guy is, was very good, he just isnt as good as some were led to believe, and they still cant accept it.
There is no denying that from his entry into the big boy class to 2006 that he was head and shoulders above everyone else in the field, and not by just a little bit either. When the new breed showed up, it basically put three more Rossi's on the grid as far as talent goes. It is a shame Stoner left, as it probably would have been the most competitive grid in the history of the sport.
His results over the years still put him damn close to god status, or at least as close as a racer can get. Yeah he's been beat but there aren't many that have run that well for that long.

I don't know how accurate it was but I recently read his 4 wheeled racing career isn't going as well as he had hoped, I'd sure love to see him ditch that effort to mount a challenge against the rookie!
