@ow01 and @Bugslayer thats awesome!!! I actually had pictures of the sorcerer on my bedroom wall growing up. Russ Collins, Byron Hines, Terry Vance and Elmer Trett were my idols growing up. I got to watch Elmer go down the track live a few times, but only on TV for the others. Thanks for tagging me, I would have probably missed this.
I live near Mckinley Marina. I sail out of there, and go on friends boats and yachts there too. I don't have an 'ice bike', but maybe I will some time. I go down there to watch them sometimes in the winter.
I've never ridden McKinley, but I do ride with that group sometimes. Generally, guys will let you mooch a ride if you want to try it, or at least the guys I know do. Getting a bike set up for something you're not even sure you'll want to do, is a costly proposition. Of course...once you try it, you'll be hooked.
A lot of fun can be had for not much money. A old dirt bike and some used ice tires for a few hundred bucks can get you started.
Don't even consider it without fenders. Seriously. Blood is particularly jarring when it's spattered all over the snow.
Think of this from a passengers point of view. When I fly on large Comm. aircraft, I realize my life is totally at the hands of this planes crew and the mechanical capability, etc. You're about to land at your destination, merely a few more seconds, and.... I'm not putting fault on anyone, such a tragedy.
