Just want to get some experiences and opinions about night lighting for the Nelson National Round.... You guys think that the stock HL will be sufficient? Does Nelson have any lights (lighting) the track? Any other lessons learned from those that have participated in night racing? Thanks, Nathan
Its dark as heck (around the back) at night. I was (riding) I mean walking around there about 11pm and I could not see anything!!!
I raced there before in the dark, and I can say that one beam pointing up, and to the right is much more important thatn one straight ahead. Remember, turning in the dark is much worse than going straight in the dark. Also, Nelson only has 2 lefts, but 11 rights. It is great fun. When is it? Sam
Jason (Pridmore) said that his times during the 24 hour endurance race overseas at night were about 2 tenths off his time during the day. Impressive.
can you just imagine if ALL the tires at Nelson Ledges were either reflective or glow in the dark? Man, that would be a sight.
We're going to use the stocker assembly with bright lights. Good enough for the Suzuka 8 hour events, good enough for slow guys like us...
More than sufficient. You don't need that. Just use a little 35 watt fog light. It'll be fine.............. See you in the dark. Baahhaaahhaaa
HID's would be the hot lick, but bring B I G $$$ They draw less current than halogens too. A decent compromise would be to replace the stock 55/60 bulbs with off road stuff, like 85/150's
We always ran the 2 light FZR 400 lights crossed, in an "X" so the beam would point down at the apex when cranked over.. Racing at night is just about the coolest ever... Some people really can't deal with it - I thought it was sweet.
Another cool thing I just remembered was to watch the bikes go by on the front straight. You can see the rotors glowing red hot. When is the race?
That is only for daylight racing Night time is for the 1,000,000 candle power spots. dum, dum, dum, dum (Jaws theme) dum, dum, dum, dum POW!
