Need my frame repaired.

I have a 2013 ZX6R project that's been sitting on the back burner for a couple of years now. It needs some minor welding to the frame spar at the upper left engine mounting point. It's damage that I have seen repaired in the past and it's a pretty common issue caused by frame protectors. It's why I stopped using frame protectors 25 years ago. This is a bike I picked up off of a friend a couple of years ago, I purchased all the parts to build this ZX6R into a track day bike before stripping it down and discovering the damage. If anyone can steer me in the direction of someone that can perform this repair for me it would be a lot of help. I live between St. Louis and Kansas City.

    Thank you,
    Bruce

Sounds like you dont need a frame specialist, but rather a good metal fabriator that can do tig welding repairs. Its hard to determine without seeing pictures of the damages.

    Yeah you are 100% correct.
I tried uploading photos with the original post but the file format wouldn't allow it. I have 3 good pictures of the damage from different angles. I have approached more than a few Tig speacialists and probably called and messaged half a dozen others over the past two years but haven't had any luck finding anyone willing to take on the project. I can send you the pics if you give me an email or ph#. No pressure
    Thanks for the response.

    Kent at GMD, Thank you.
I will definitely do that if I can't find someone a little closer to St. Louis or Kansas City. I am mentally preparing my self for a long drive.

Open the picture, click on edit or setting and look for resize. Shrink it down, and post it.

I have two more shots from two different perspectives but I think this one tells the story well enough. It needs to be filled then through drilled with a flush mating surface.

Ya, you dont need to take this to a frame guy. Any fabrication shop near you can easily fix this, its no big deal. What I would do is remove fairings, gas tank, grab a carpet. Take it to a fab shop, roll out the carpet lay the bike on its side. this way the welder can easily weld this. He will need to weld it, then find center of the hole and carefully drill that out. Maybe put a small stud bolt into the threads and weld right on top that way it protects the threads on the engine.

But from the pictures do you really need to weld it, is that damage that deep? Is there aluminum metal inside left? Because if the metal is thick all you got to do is use a big drill bit and that should flatten the area where it bolts to.
