But, as I like to say (about myself, in every competitive endeavor I undertake)... if you can't win, you can at least look good getting lapped.
I read it was a "non-title" sponsorship, so livery fan boys might wanna put their lotion down until it's confirmed.
Heard/ read that Marquez will be on loan from Red Bull to Monster for next year. No Red Bull logos but he can train at their facilities and is not banned from being a RB athlete for life like others in the past. No monster logos on his helmet and no monster water bottles but they will be on the bike and leathers. When monster is up at Ducati they may go RB or no energy drink sponsorship on the bikes at all. could be bullshit but it is strange enough to be sorta true.
It actually sounds like a solid meeting point between the 4 parties involved, well thought out and to everyone's benefit.
i can't wait to see Yamaha with 4 bikes on the grid... hoping they get fabio back into fighting shape.
Very random rumors going around about KTM potentially dropping some or all of their MotoGP project. I think it's a big stretch based on their financial investment needs, but I suppose if for some reason they can't secure the investment, something will need to be cut. Personally speculating if anything, it would start with the Moto2 team since it is a support class and the bike isn't really a KTM bike. And/or maybe drop support for some of the other branded teams like Husqvarna Intact, GasGas Redbull, etc. In Moto3 I think a majority of the field is still on KTMs there, and it's more affordable to run than Moto2, so maybe stay there. I don't see either premier class team leaving and I believe Tech3 has a signed contract with KTM through 2026 too. If anything maybe they'd free up Tech3's title sponsorship instead of KTM being a co-title sponsor with Red Bull? All in all, I think Pierer will sell more shares to Bajaj and the whole project will carry on with little change, but I guess we'll see.
Signed contracts with Austrians are worth what they think they are worth. ;-) Weird rumor or bullshit is Red Bull takes over the factory team, funds it, treats it like Red Bull in F1 and it becomes Red Bull powered by KTM. This is a huge stretch. What happens to Tech3 with the above? Not a single whisper.
I don't see KTM letting all of the GP team go but I do believe redbull will take a big stake on the teams and take some of the burden away from KTM.
This aligns with what is going on with AMA SuperMotoCross on dirty bikes too... The rumor mill has the Troy Lee Designs team running Ducatis with Red Bull sponsorship in 2026. All rumors. Nothing to see here... I don't think this is such a stretch when you look at the financials. Red Bull could buy and sell KTM a couple of times based on current financials. Only one of these plans is likely to be viable past 2025. Pick the one that gives the Money Men the best long term exposure. I think it will be a multi sport Ducati/RedBull alliance. -T
Red Bull could do both, they got the cash and the history to do it. Ducati would just be an associate sponsor (get the Honda RB money) and KTM is still the big swinging dick for RB. I watched Gypsy Tales when they talked about energy drinks in dirty bikes as a whole but more about Monster. Basically if there was no energy drinks in the dirty bikes there essentially wouldn’t be a dirty bike series or no where close to what it is today. They spend big bucks (no whammies) on the series. What I always found weird in Supercross was KTM was RB and the sister team at husquvara was Rockstar. The other team, Troy lee was Red Bull but that’s more because Troy lee and Troy lee gives no fucks. Cool but weird.
I made a comment (maybe even in this thread that Papa could find) about there being quiet rumors about the manufacturers backing out of running MotoGP teams in the long term and having them run more like a lot of WSBK.
I could entertain that for part of the grid in the short term but there will always be a couple of full on factory teams. Roberts back in the day was a private team but with a direct pipeline to the factory and Yamaha.
Was Marc playing wingman to Pecco? There was one slip up and Marc could have slammed it in there but refrained.
I can't wait until the test. A lot of movement this year, so it will be interesting to see how the guys get on with new bikes/teams.
