The simple solution is to simply follow the rules. #1 had no trouble out front the entire race. were any other riders gigged for tire pressure infractions?
While we all know that no one else has ever flirted with or crossed the tire pressure limit even though the rules are always made clear to everyone, we can only hope that Marquez will learn his lesson and be more careful when he inflates his own tires going forward.
Something I have been wondering since yesterday afternoon is if the 23 Duc needs to run lower pressure. That article matches my memory from last year with the 23 Ducs routinely running on the lower pressure side. Might be another example of something they fixed on the 24 bike.
what a ridiculous statement. Of course other riders have been gigged. Do you know why he got 16 seconds though? Seems kinda high, huh?
Because 16 seconds is the penalty for anyone with that infraction. Minimum pressure The minimum front tire pressure is 1.8 bar, while the minimum rear tire pressure is 1.68 bar. However, race-by-race adjustments are possible. Minimum duration The minimum amount of time the front tire pressure must remain above the minimum is 60% of the distance of a full Sunday grand prix for races over 15 laps. For sprints, which are 15 laps or less, the minimum is 30% of the laps. For six-lap dashes or shorter, the pressure must be at least two consecutive readings that are above the minimum. Readings are taken every second. Penalties Instead of immediate disqualification, riders who violate the minimum pressure rules receive a time penalty. For Sunday's main event, the penalty is 16 seconds, while for sprints, it's eight seconds.
Or just let them run what pressure works for their machine. That would be the simplest solution. At the end of the day, the main goal is to win. You do not win if you are blowing your tires up doe to underinflation.
Someone knows the rules. How is the penalty affected in a restarted main event? What is the penalty for forgetting knee pucks or your helmet?
BS rule especially considering the possibility of someone being ran off and then finding themself in a “negative (insufficient) pressure situation” without their own fault
Did Marc steal your 3 foot screwdriver or something? Lotta hate for someone who doesn't even know your name. That's not healthy man. You should talk to someone. Coming across pretty obsessive.
This is what I'd love the case to be. But the argument to that is always how poorly it reflects on Michelin, which neither Michelin nor Dorna wants. No one will care that it wasn't Michelin's fault.
It's the desperation I'm laughing at. You probably have a poste ready to paste the moment he drops his energy drink can. That said, anyone who's ever been beaten to a championship by a guy who can't remember his knee pucks should be deleted from the racing history books. Because it's totally relevant.
Prolly why his tire pressures were low, not enough weight or aerodynamic drag to get pressure rise in the tires.
I'm unsure on the penalty, but that's not a safety issue that would affect everyone on the grid. Tire pressures have the potential to impact someone other than just the individual.
I think I still have a set too. Bought some years back off ebay. They work well but I use the TRS now
