MIA at Jerez, too. Wonder whats up with that. https://www.crash.net/moto2/results/1063601/1/2025-moto2-jerez-test-results-day-1
Might not have anything new to test and the cost to go just run around the same old same old out ways what they'll learn?
Dunno. It is odd mostly because their social media repeatedly mentioned being a the Jerez test. I don't "think" they have any financial issues. The owners have personal funds for sure and seem to want to stick around. I had heard the Only Fans sponsorship wasn't big money, but they've run without a title sponsor at all, so I don't think its that. Dave might be right just saving money if they're using the same chassis, suspension, etc. They might do a private test outside of MotoGP to save some. If nothing's changed year over year, I'd prob do the same.
I've NEVER heard of a healthy (financially) team skipping the last 2 preseason tests, that's not a good sign for anyone, I'd be pissed if I was a rider or crew chief. They are gonna hit the track in Thailand 4 days behind everyone else - not a good start to the year being on the back foot like that.
Well I just looked at RRW and they are listed as there on Day 2 at least... https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/moto2-moreira-tops-testing-at-jerez/
The impression I got back in 2023 was that they DID testing, but not at the officially sanctioned tests. I certainly don't know what leads them through their decision-making process though.
This year is the first time (at least in a while) where the first days of in-season on-track action are actually in February! I think they shifted a lot of the schedule around this year and at least on paper it seems like it should work better for the teams.
The irony of how much Dave K vibe you channeled for a post about dead ramones is nothing short of glorious.
Pretty sure this is after effects of the longer than ever season. It's either start sooner, end later, cram it all in with fewer breaks, or some combination of the 3.
