Timing seems to be working out I will be in China around that time with no plans. Was going there anyway so the race is a bonus. Any advice,, hotels, tourist things???? I'll be in China from the beginning of November until the race weekend on holiday. But open to any cool things in Southern China, booked a ticket to Beijing on the first of Nov not realizing it's going to be cold
Odd timing… just talking about this… @hdpromos was the spearhead of the American riders/teams for years iirc… he’s on here today… he’s the guy to ask Captain…
Yeah last time we talked told you I was going to japan for sushi school, have a couple of weeks off before. So bought a ticket to China N over 1 st. My school starts on a Monday after flying on a sunday???? Like normal high school shit
Even Haugo went a few times… all the FL crew too it seems… scares me too bad to even watch on TV I can’t watch any real roads race though…
I haven't been there since 2011 and I'm sure so much has changed. But check out the Macau Gran Prix Museum.
I love China and Japan because they do wacky shit. Like a zoo recently painted 2 chow's, and put them on exhibit saying they are panda's. Shit went wrong when they started barking https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/20/travel/guangdong-china-panda-dog-zoo-intl-hnk/index.html
DEFINITELY GO huge fucking regret of mine that i didn't do it before retiring from real-roads be prepared to spend a LOT of money. the place already makes vegas look poor, and it's the chinese equivalent of Monaco Gran Prix on top of that. pm me if you decide to go, i will hook you up with some racers and they will show you the good times and places.
Henry helped Barney and Fritz go and I think more than once? We picked up Fritz at the airport and his stories were great but not about the races...
I'm going, am single and my job gives me 3 months off a year. But not a baller, in my 3 months usually go to dirt poor countries where 1500 a month you are living large. But this trip is different, paid to go back to school at 44. But don't mind spending money for the Macau gp. But don't gamble, drink cheap rum(international) and don't do hookers
Mike Barnes was on the American team many times and was teammates with Fritz Kling and other riders in 1992 and 93. And as you may know Fritz was a giant of a man and a great rider. Barney and Fritz were best of friends and we had nick names for those two guys "Mutt & Jeff"! Also our motto was similar to Vegas, and for good reason "what happens in Macau stays in Macau"! And believe me a lot did but I'll never tell
I don’t think I ever heard one of those… him being 6’7” I bet he was swarmed in public…. Miss that dude…
I didn’t meet Fritz until he came back to racing around 02-03… he quickly became one of my favorite racing friends… Did Fred go and try to keep him in line? I can imagine him and Barney going crazy in Asia… I imagine it was like the Hangover movie in Bangcock
Nope Fred didn't go and sometimes those trips were a lot like the movie Hangover because after the race we did go to Thailand.
