That was my point.I always thought,as posted above, the top,but never knew quite sure where they..(whoever they are) considered the line? I sat here and argued with my girl about it,then as goggle would have it,you can find different answers from several reputable sources. I guess we will have to wait til this weekend for the G-duck,and47 time winner Jasohn Pridemore to call it out! Its kinda like the drop down into 12 at Road Atlanta.Isn't that one 4 stories?

That is correct, it's all downhill until you hit T10.

Haven't been through it on a bike but one time when
I was there working a GP one of the instructors from
the driver school there (can't bring the name to mind
at the moment but I just turned 70 so give me a fucking
break) kindly offered to take me on a hot lap around the
track and going through the corkscrew at speed was an
experience. Your stomach doesn't catch up to you for
at least five seconds. I've also been through it standing
in the back of the dragon wagon at a brisk speed and that
    was fairly exhilarating also.

I remember freaking out on the warm up lap there in 2022 because I thought something was wrong with the brand new front tire. When I transitioned over the crest to the right the front went light and I thought I was crashing. I wasn't of course, on the gas the front was airborne over the crest. It takes a few heartbeats to know if it's gripping down the right or you're just falling?

Grateful I got to race there and get it checked off the old bucket list. Bummed there's no twins there this year, maybe 2025? It's a bitch getting out there, but dang it's worth it!

I think 59 feet is to the foot bridge, which is pretty much exactly where the track switches from curving right to curving left for Rainey. The part everyone photographs is more like 35 feet.

After thinking about it some more, I realized the lowest point of the track is actually past the last turn.
As you go down the main straight hit the bend called turn one, you drop down quite a bit more, then you hit the hairpin called turn two, and on to turn three, a right hander.

At this point you are on the lake bed, the lowest point of the track.

So from that point to the top of the corkscrew could easily be ten stories, so maybe this is where the confusion comes from.

Idk if you are referring to Xavi on the MA Social media, but that was wild! Thats a tall ass building. Maybe he meant 150ft, which still crazy, but more in line with some of the other guesses.

Yes, I believe that 10 story figure refers to the elevation
change from the highest to the lowest points on the track.

By the way the original track went around the lake bed, then they had to make it longer,so added the infield turns on the lake bed.

Another thing the track is in a bowl, with hills all around,in the middle of a large park, quite a ways from houses.
But what do I know I am not a rich person, that likes to complain.

Would be awesome if MotoGP decided to come back to Laguna to fill in for the lost tracks this season.

Ok - got this from my brother who is an architect and also coordinated track marshals for MA for several years and has real world experience at Laguna. That said I believe the information to be factual and not anecdotal:

“(1) A story is approximately 10-12 feet. 8-10 for occupancy and 2-4 for structure and infrastructure.

(2)The Corkscrew is a 110 foot drop, approximately 9-10 stories from the corkscrew back down to turn 11.

(3)The actual lowest spot is turn 3 “

Kurt’s a squirrel but he knows this stuff pretty well.:D

NOTE - this is not questioning those of you who’ve ridden and/or were track marshals at Laguna.:D

Certainly, the corkscrew stops by T9 so you can't
call the drop all the way down to T11 the Corkscrew
when determining the drop of the corner.

Yeah probably a little before turn 9, but who knows or determines where the exact end of the corkscrew is.
All I know is it's a fun track.
