To you guys that have a wife OR girlfriend that rides or races or does trackdays....where do you/they source their leather suits? It is almost impossible to find anyone/anywhere that has a decent selection in stock (Knoxville, TN area) and all the different brands out there and their sizing charts are all over the place. My wife bought a 2 piece suit and double checked her measurements for both the jacket and the pants and ordered what the size chart said would fit. Neither one fit her. The jacket was so small that there was a 3 1/2 inch gap in the front where it is suppose to zip up. The pants would not even come up over her hips, yet the chart said that is what she needed based on her measurements. And before anyone comments about her size.......she is approx. 5'2" to 5'3" in height and weighs about 120 lbs. Right now she is very frustrated with looking, and I was hoping that some of you guys might have some suggestions/ideas/thoughts..........other than a custom made suit. It may come to that, but that's definitely NOT her first choice right now.
are they off brand? All the women I know that ride wear suits off the rack sized except for a few that have a larger bust.
They were Cortech brand. Not really off brand, and certainly not top of the line either. Their sizing chart is not even close to real world numbers.
Call STG, Brian and the crew will set her up. Lynne has several Spidi Lady Lizard suits, she loves them. I believe they were discontinued so, no help to you and Peg. Say hi to the Mrs. for us! Miss seeing you guys, it has been way too long. Ski
Who is the most prolific woman racer/girlfriend and journalist around here? And I would bet she would be happy to help your winmenz. Fyi her name is Melissa and she writes for RRW. If I have to say more then y'all are losers big time
If she has such a womanly body that a mens doesn't fit well enough to be safe, she can size up in A-stars, they have a tailoring division that runs about $300-400. Or contrary to rumors, Mithos is still around, and after a rough start with the factory not supplying well and under new management, I think its 32 measurements they take before making one? Either way 'cheap' and 'custom' have never been friends, lol.
Have any of you had any dealings with 4RS brand suits? They make a couple of ladies suits and their size charts look favorable for being able to fit her....but, how to know if they are accurate or not is the question.
I have an older Teknic suit that I'd gladly ship to you for fitment test. It's a 42/52 and in perfect condition. Send some info and I'll get pics and measurements, if you're interested.
I think we may have it figured out for her....will be making some phone calls on Monday. Thank you to everyone that offered up ideas/suggestions Here is some inspiration for you guys, and maybe some gals that are getting older.... My wife Peggy will turn 72 in less than a month, has had complete knee replacement surgery 4 years ago for her right knee, and just bought this about a month ago.....Ride On!
Hey @xrated - stoked to hear your wife is getting on a bike. I know I'm late to this. But if you need another resource, reach out to Audrie at https://motoliberty.com/. They helped get my wife all her gear, including her leathers. Specifically, moto liberty orders a lot of custom suits so I assume they could have you send in your wife's measurements and help you find the right gear to get her riding. Vive le moto!
Thanks for the info. She got a jacket and pants ordered....again, so we'll wait and see when they arrive how well or if they fit.
You've been watching too many movies.....most 72 year old women don't fit into that number scheme....LOL
