Tyler Scott Blake Davis PJ, Who crashed caused a red flag, took two restarts from the back then was awarded a podium when they just said fuck this.
The idea is to not crash and there was plenty of that today. Strictly in my opinion regarding the amount of red flags, my belief is that if a crash couldn't be cleared in a certain amount of time, like in under 20s, there would be a flag. 30+ bikes stretched out on that track at one time uses a lot of real estate and I believe the organizers were simply playing it safe and quite possibly even more so in the wet. The track was well staffed for this event, rain or dry, again, IMO. I hope all affected riders are ok
The 11th restart didn't happen the race was called even though they announced that the race would not end on a red flag at the rider's meeting. Brandon was P3 on the last red flag after PJ crashed out but race direction went back a lap after calling the race, Brandon was P4 on that lap and was scored there with PJ 3rd. Paasch did a great job on a 2017 R6 with a stock engine that we put together in less than a week. He beat a number of riders on MA spec supersport machines and also all of the local fast guys, even leading the race for a minute on one of the restarts. Never touched the ground all weekend. I'm exhausted and happy to be heading home.
If a bike crashes at most of Loudon, there's not really anywhere for it to go. And with 30 riders on a relatively short track, I can't imagine there was a lot of empty track to clear incidents.
On a first-lap crash, you should have a good 45-50 seconds so it's doable if you have workers close enough.
I hope there were no serious injuries in this, well, unusual race. Love the Loudon Classic's heritage and tradition, but I desire racers who compete there to be able to continue racing, afterwards.
Bummer. I wanted this race to be awesome and continue on at this year’s Money level. I love that track.
I'm still curious who just lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Wet sadly cuts way down on fans to pay the bills
Clearly not viable to race Louden in the rain. You know it is bad when the officials are saying it was announced in the riders meeting that we will not finish under a red, then restart the race after a red on the white flag lap twice, and finally say fuck this it is not possible to run 3 laps, lets revert back to the last successful lap.
