I'm working in corporate america in middle management. my boss is a 50 something female ladder climber (appearance and perception over substance), my team is young and inexperienced, my company is fat, bureacratic and top-heavy. This place is sucking my soul out of my body a little bit every day. Please racing season, come distract me.
Thanks Doug. That made me laugh out loud. I think everyone in my cubicle hell heard me laugh. I disturbed the perpetual state of their i-pod headphone blissful catatonia.
I'm no fan of mine either. Its amazing how many Fortune 500 companies can be so disorganized and political while still making money hand over fist. It boggles my mind to think about how much profit could be made if people would just make informed decisions benefitting the company and not themselves. Even my wife has been asking for racing season to come, so that I'm not so depressed and irritable.
Wish I could do that. I tried listening to Sirius over the desktop once and my boss freaked out because he couldn't concentrate. With headphones on I can't hear the phone ring.
Oh no, they have Internet access blocked here... Can't get out anywhere... Everyone has to bring in their own music... And the handheld satellite radios don't work inside the building either, for some reason.
The night before last we had the big snowstorm coming and my girlfriend already had her work cancelled for the next day. So I thought it would be a good day to take off and go snowboarding. I called my boss and told him I thought I'd take the day off because it would probably be one of our slowest days of the year because of the snow. He laughed at me and said "We'll see about that." The next day we opened the office at 11 because of the snow. He finally shows up at noon and says," What are you doing here, I thought you were taking the day off?" I almost had to choke him right in the hallway.
By some act of God, wera and the bbs has slipped through IT's "sports content" filter. If not, i'd have a #2 pencil in my eye. No wait those are against our documentation procedures. it would have to be a blue or black indelible ink pen protruding from my eye socket....Dang, then i'd have to fill out an injury report.
dude u need help.... lol and is puttin up with all that worth it? what do ya make in corp. middle america? just ask urself do i really need this....
You can't write shit this good. I just now received the e-mail below. i'd better get off the web for today. I'll leave you all with this tidy little tid-bit. As you all know, the Wilmington site has grown and changed significantly over the past few years. We have a history of being a high energy company with a good work environment. I want to ensure that we continue to be a positive, professional, and fun place to work for everyone. I have arranged for a group of professional trainers and actors to conduct several site-wide workshops on "Creating a Respectful Work Environment." This is a corporate wide training effort and all employees are required to attend, rest assured most of you will enjoy attending because it is an entertaining, interactive, and fun way to learn how to: - Improve skills in confronting inappropriate behavior - Explore alternative methods for improved communication - Discuss difficult employee relations issues - Discover new ways to prevent harassment in the workplace - Increase sensitivity to others - Learn how to create a more comfortable work environment Several workshops will be held during February and March and is it important that everyone attend. There are two types of workshops and space is limited in each. The Manager Workshop is targeted toward anyone who leads or manages people, i.e. team leader, manager, supervisor, director. The Employee Workshop is intended for the individual employee.
