ACLU is a leftist bunch of freaks that do not defend the Constitution except when it suits their ends. Fire department is volunteer here, they do an amazing job. Oh and no system is pure if it works. However saying services like roads are socialist is a bit silly. As to hospitals at one time they were private and faith based and did a pretty good job with the technology of their day.
So contributing your time, unpaid, to create a social safety net that is a VFD, to protect the citizens from an unlikely but potentially lifechanging event, isn't a fundamentally Socialist idea? You're very good at the mental gymnastics. Just don't call you a socialist, right?
No, it's not. That's not how Socialism works. Volunteering is the opposite of Socialism. Socialism is characterized by force. Being forced to contribute your time and efforts for the greater good is Socialism.
He's not being forced to volunteer. If he was mandated to do so that'd be different but then that wouldn't be volunteer now would it. He is contributing his effort to the greater good of the community by his own choice. There is nothing socialist about it. I realize the English language is hard but words have meaning and you aren't a volunteer if you are being forced to give something up under force of government.
Wow. So you're telling me that nearly everyone on the continent of Europe, is being forced to work, and there are dire consequences if they skip a day? Is it like a secret police or something that makes people disappear if they don't show up, and nobody talks about them anymore? I can't tell if you're just gaslighting at this point.
Are you claiming europe is mostly socialistic? Like Marx-Lenin or the Nordic model of free market with heavy social programs.
You don't understand Socialism if you think Europe practices actual Socialism. None of their governments operate as a Socialist regime. They do love social programs.
Yet you all argue here everyday that the Dems are trying to take the US to "actual socialism"... Would also wager most references in the dungeon to "socialist European this and that" wouldn't come with the distinctions being argued so hard here. Is national healthcare socialism or a social program? Were you forced to participate? Were you forced to work for it? Who argued the other side so which response needs to be prepared...?
They are definitely Socialist in some of the countries, not pure but there is no pure system of anything in the world when it comes to forms of government. Oh and not all of europe is.
Most “Social programs” are just wealth redistribution. Society taking responsibility for you ‘cause you or you parents can’t. You need a license for just about everything but bringing children into this world. No biggie society will look after them if you can’t.
