Hey guys, New to the forum here. Been doing some tracks recently and I'm thinking about trying to get into racing eventually. About how much does everything cost to get going?
where can I find that. also I was more or less hoping to get to know some people through asking stuff. I dont know anyone here.
post up your location and find some people in your area that race. go grab a beer with some of them. most around here are pretty helpful and all about bringing new people into the sport.
BBS step one - iffin you don't have thick skin, acquire some. Step 2: go to new racer section, ask questions. Step 3: Putter will be along to hump your leg or something, I don't think he's distinguishing between males and females at this point. Don't fight it, it'll go easier if you just let it happen.
Ok cool, thanks for the link. I live in Raleigh NC. a few guys on 600RR.net recommended this place to me so here i am.
All of it. Your money that is. Regardless of how much you make. You are likely to spend all of it racing.
yeah that's I've started to learn just doing track days. What does it take to get a license to participate?
Welcome to the shark tank. I have to wonder though, named yourself Hacker84 and you couldn't navigate the beeb? That's a face-palm moment...
fighting it would be like punting a chihuahua while hes humping your leg. its just cruel and inhumane. just gotta let him finish. and oh yea, definitely gonna need kevlar skin around here. a lot of the people on here can be brutal (ask me how i know) but if you can get past that, there are many that are very helpful
oh lol no nothing to do with computer hacking, i wouldnt know where to begin, Im a jamie hacking fan.
to give you a short answer, you can get into racing for pretty cheap if you're already doing trackdays. race school is $100 I assume you already have a bike, helmet, leathers, gloves, and boots if you're doing trackdays. Helmet must be less than 5 years old. Transponder is now included while you're a provisional novice, so no up-front cost there anymore. Then $100 race license. Tape up and wire your bike ($40 if you buy crappy wiring pliers and already own a drill), and then a home-made belly pan for another $40 in hardware. number plates & numbers will be $40 that should be it. That's $320, and some of it will go away if you've already got track bodywork. Double-check the rule book for bodywork requirements. I saw 'headlight taped' on the tech inspection sheet, but that may not jive with more current rules.
Dang, I wish you had posted last week. You could have come to VIR and checked things out without to much trouble. Come out and play and you will find plenty of help. Just ask if you need anything. Someone will be able to get you heading the right way.
