I was watching it the other night when they had an incident where the cop was
trying to arrest a drunk driver and several bystanders helped him wrestle the
extremely drunk driver down and cuff him. The drunk guy turned out to be Stephan Bonnar.

i was about to post that the car must have done top speed, but then decided to google the horizontal throw and of course there was an online calculator.

one picture also showed a bent post at takeoff, so he might actually have had a positive ( >0 deg) starting angle.

wind might have deflected direction or even added lift, not assuming there was a downward wind at the cliff.

back when i had my 4x4 VW vanagon (syncro) i used to get calls in the middle of the night from friends and family that got stuck because they didn't make the turn... luckily, nobody ever tried to clear a river.
