Gearing for Daytona International speedway

Hi,

I am intrested to know what gearing should I run at Daytona International speedway on a 02 Suzuki GSXR 600?

 

Stock motor?
Your weight geared up?

Gearing for me at 215lbs on my stock motor, 07 GSXR 600 is/was different than somebody 50lbs lighter and/or with a built bike.

 

Stock gearing is a good start. If you aren't pulling redline at the #3 brake marker, go up one tooth until you do, then you might be just about perfect.
If you are hitting the rev limiter before #3 marker, go down one tooth. This was with the old 180/55 tires BITD.

Tire 190/55 Dunlop 211 GP-A

 

on an 02 i wouldnt be anywhere near limiter. hope that engine makes it

 

when do you plan on running DIS? Earliest available is like Oct 2011??

 

He could be going to the CCS/ASRA/Team Hammer event at the end of Feb.
We went last year at that time.

 

You got it, the end of Feb.

 

CCS isn't running at Daytona in March. That event isn't happening anymore. October is the only event. They are going to Roebling Roads instead.

 

CCS/ASRA you got it, the end of Feb 2011. Do you have any tips since I never run this track before?

 

One tip: Don't plan on showing up in February because nobody is going to be there. If you are talking about Team Hammer Advanced Riding School, they won't be there either. I read it somewhere but I can't seem to find it.
Other than that when the event is held October 14—15—16 2011, I would gear as tall as possible.

 

Just saw a post, that CCS will not be happening at Daytona for Feb 2011.

Pavement looks nice there though
