First off, my goal was a reliable 300-400k mile engine. Also, my piston rings were really questionable (dumped 4 or 5 cans of brake cleaner in all 8 cylinders) meaning I wasn't sure if after doing all that work I would be pulling the engine soon after for oil consumption.
I reused the plugs and currently the same coils. Soaked the plugs in the carb cleaner...can't recall the brand name. I believe all the codes and trouble was because of the fowled plugs and the oiled up/fowled mass air pressure sensor. I cleaned and reused whatever was in/on the car. Anyone want or need the cheapo hopper, walnut media and associated parts? It's free for ya in San Diego.
