Every time I have been to Barber with STT they have allowed camping. I'm planning on staying at the track myself and sleeping in the trailer.
HAHA!!! That reminds me of a place I used to stay up around Maryville when we'd go to deal's gap. The place was originally okay, but it was sold to some foreigners and quickly turned into a crack house or something. Not knowing this, we booked a room and were in the parking lot fiddling with our bikes when this sheriffs deputy drove up, noticed our bikes and as it happened, he does track days, so we got to talking about suspension and stuff and we sat there talking for like 20 or 30 minutes before he got a call and had to leave. Well, as soon as he left, these two scrawny guys came out and said something like, "Man, you guys don't need to be keeping PIGS around here. What was he asking about?" I was like, man calm down. He was talking about bikes the whole time he was here". That seemed to calm them down and they walked back to their room and that's the last we heard from them, but that's also the last time we stayed there. Crackheads. I'm surprised they didn't try to steal our bikes. On that note... the exit before the barber exit is the Leeds/Moody exit and is _much_ nicer. Any of you guys coming from Atlanta should really try to stay there. I mean, it's only 10 minutes down the road, and it's on your way anyway. Same deal with Trussville coming from the north/north east, and 280 coming from the south. People coming from the west could just as easily stay at either trussville or 280, but trussville is a little closer to the track than 280. The drive is probably 10 minutes from Trussville and maybe 15 or more coming from 280 (depending on which motel you stay in). Either way, better to stay in any of those places and drive a few minutes in the morning than have to worry about who's out in the parking lot with the hookers at the place right by the track. Just my humble opinion of course. YMMV. Then again, if you're camping, none of this matters. 29 Dreams isn't far, and I think the track lets people camp there too.
29 Dreams They've sponsored racers for years and it's a great atmosphere at their place. You have meals served on site and friendly people to pass the time with. Much better than secluding yourself in a hotel or lonely race track.
we will reserve a room at el cheepo likely but if the weatehr is warm enoughs tay at the track, only a few day's time will tell...
AWESOME! You camping there dave or hoteling it? If you camp, who do you talk to to get to camp there? We've still not gotten someone there that is in the "know"
My ride partner found out we can stay at track, $50 for the weekend in a trailer, $20 if you are tenting it. the 50 did inclue power I think
I was unaware they charged for anything without hookups... then again, I camp in the corner worker lot every time I go, being a corner worker and all.
+1 Great atmosphere (bike friendly), descent showers, good restaurant. No complaints. Would do it again!
I Am From The Area. Search Hotels Around Pell City. Its Off I20 About 20 Min East Of Barber. There Are Places To Eat There Also.
