On a positive note I have atv, sxs jeep and can run down the road and grab an F250 - note wire if a want to use someone else’s 24 Platimun to pull trees around but 1200 ft lbs of torque is nice. He also has a smaller tractor and bobcat. Best thing is a few weeks ago put a big bore kit exhaust etc on my chainsaw and have 10 gallons of VP 2T. Ive been wanting to actually use it more than just cutting wood to dial in the carb. I’m only cutting enough to clear shit for myself and people who need help. I’ll hire someone to do the rest. This is also really f ing up my deer hunting.
Was outside a few minutes ago. 50+ gust occasionally but the driest storm I've ever seen. Power sporadically out around Jax and the beaches. River flooding will be muted by the outgoing tide. It is getting it on west of us. FB video from Gulf coast and Panhandle look pretty bad. Wife can't sleep during storms so hurricane snacks, snuggles with the pooches and youtubes it is.
Tenant got out just in time. I'll be out there tomorrow to start cleanup on property. Let me know if you need me to bring anything out. I have plenty of gas, ice, and water.
I talked to my folks in Punta Gorda, FL around 11pm last night. They said downtown was flooded and water from their canal was at the top step of their back porch with high tide a couple hours away. Here in NE GA, we've had around 6.5" of rain in the last 24 hours, with the really heavy rain and big wind supposed to hit around 0500 and last until about 0800 according to what I gather from the various weather sources. Current radar does not look good, with lots of rain on the way. Big thanks to RDrace42 for the tip to windy.com. Best of luck to all in the path!
Here in N. GA the storm of the century has turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of rain and a fart in the wind. Good thing they closed schools for two days.
About to be on the leeward side of the storm as it passes through N. GA. Winds forecast to pick up to 19 mph the next hour. Only a long, steady rain here so far. Wind picked up a bit while I was typing this, but still not bad. Edit: Wind forecast upped to a whopping 21 mph between 9:00 and 10:00
as a muni worker... I love Administrative paid leave... followed by 2-8 hours of OT the next business day!!
Friends in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area had their boats and docks beat up pretty good from winds and debris. Wide area of damage from this one.
Thanks for the offer, but we are fine. No damage at all and no flooding. We lost power from 8pm until 1am, that was the extent of our hardship.
Everything west of Rt19 was flooded here. I saw pics last night of the water right up to Rt19, so this was far worse than Idalia last August.
Lots of trees down, no power, cell service is wonky. Trees missed the house, but cleanup is going to be a bish.
We got almost nothing he is NE GA. Had two blips of power early this morning and I've got one little oak tree that was already dead to chop up. There's some stuff on the ground around the area but pretty much a nothing burger this far north.
Nothing bad here in Atlanta. Lost power from 11PM to 4AM, but otherwise lots of rain and wind. A lot of local flooding though. My son's apartment in Boone NC is flooding though.
We are an hour west of ATL...you'd have thought it was the apocalypse coming. We ended up with close to 6 inches of rain. Why can't they simply report things and not sensationalize this crap? Of course, they didn't get the devastation they were hoping for....even landfall looked to be very week watching the weather channel clowns trying to act there way through shit...
