I've been wearing Hit Air vest but now considering chest protector as well. Does it make sense to double up? Any recommendations on the brand or type?
Yes, wear both. The Hit Air vest might not deploy before your chest slams into the bike / upper fairing / windscreen during a violent high-side.
I wear a Forcefield chest protector. Crashed last year and broke a rib or two. I don't really know how bad it would have been if I hadn't been wearing one, but now I'm sold on wearing one every time I go out on the track. I'd like to find one that flows more air though.
Variouse manufacturers have chest protectors with honeycomb design to flow more air. I have been looking at them but not sure if the level of protection is adequate. Any experience with those? https://www.revzilla.com/product_images/0238/2328/dainese_pro_armor_chest_protector_black.jpg

I just got the Forcefield Pro Vest X-V from STG, I think it'll work well and be fairly comfortable, but I am a bit leery of the unprotected center area of the chest (being a zip-up vest). I'll try to avoid getting a handlebar poked in there...
How much room do you have in your leathers? I personally like the 1 piece design that gives you sternum coverage. We've sold quite a few of the Forcefield Elite Chest protectors as well as the KR-CiR. Both of these are CE level 2. https://www.ridersdiscount.com/alpinestars-nucleon-kr-cir-chest-protector-insert-for-kr-r-207330
Last year I didn’t have a lot of room in the suit but just dropped 10 pounds. It should fit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
