Once saw a Geo Metro pulling a 5x10 open trailer with a Harley Ultraglide on it. Civic is a hotrod compared to a metro...

My uncle towed his goldwing with his Honda Accord in a 5x8 trailer.

I towed my bike back in the '70s with a Civic when they were 1200cc and 50HP. My original clutch was still in it when I sold it with 120k on the clock.

    Phl218 .

the dutch pull their mobile campers through the alps each year, down to italy. with golfs/rabbits, peugeots 206, and all the other small crap.

    you'll be fine.

tow ratings in the US are political to make everyone buy a truck.

i just found that out and nearly bought a truck.
now i have a small european car with a tow rating of 7700 lb :D

I drove a civic (with the owner as a passenger) from CT to South FL towing a trailer (Home Depot, single axle, see-trough flooring) carrying a Hawk. Except for wider turns caution required, the trip was uneventful. The route included the northern half of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

    Steeltoe What's my move?

Let me see a swarthy, squat Eyetalian crammed in a Civic.
You know when they put the ribs on Fred Flintstone's car and it flips? :p

I used to tow TWO bikes in an open utility type trailer with my Toyota Paseo. Manual trans, still got mid to upper 20's gas mileage. I towed bikes all over the southern US for years. Only thing I ever replaced was the clutch, and that was going bad when I bought it.

  11. Remember that Fiat and Yamaha towed an M1 around the country using a Fiat 500, so a Civic should have no trouble towing a race bike in a small open trailer.

    4x6, 5x8 open trailer - absolutely!

I've towed bikes all over the place with all manner of cars, the Civic will be fine.

<edit> Found it, knew there was a picture of Spencer's setup around here somewhere.

next to a tahoe / suburban or an F350, yes.

equal to a MDX or maybe even the Q5, though the Q7 is the platform.

    taller than a beetle....

in texas it's even more a small car, me thinks? ;)

I use my impreza and a 5X8 open trailer for getting to the track.it does awesome, and beats the hell out of my f150 in mpg's.absolutly no reason a solid civic cannot do the same.just use common sense and don't tailgate people, and be ready to brake a little sooner, but that's when pulling anything with even a large truck.......

    :stupid:
My 95 Accord (5spd VTEC 4 banger) tows a 5x8 open grate with my F3, race gear/cooler/ez-up and one passenger just fine.

That poor car has pulled everything I've thrown at it(within reason of course).
