I'm not sure this is helping. Can someone post to confirm this thread is dropping down the boards first page?
I heard on the gossip line that DMG was for sale a few months ago, for 2-4 million, can't remember exact amount. I remember thinking, at the time, that seems like to much for what they seem to have.
Truth..... $100K prototype chassis (with spec Honda motors) are not possible or sustainable. In 3 years after massive growth it might be possible to run something like that as a class within a class. In CEV, as successful as it is at the moment, they still don't have enough Moto2 bikes to fill the grid with their own class. What the US needs at the moment is a well organized, marketable series (10 rounds) with a 3 - 5 year actionable business plan that involves all segments of the motorcycle industry. The rules package needs to be simple, easy to understand by the casual fan, economical, sustainable, marketable, and something the fits with what the OEM's want to market. Example: Supercross is 450cc / 250cc with SBK motors and SSTK chassis. Easy to understand, economical, sustainable, marketable, and fits with what the OEM's want to market.
I feel like this is a good time to point out your super awesome, bad mofo racer page is returning a 404. http://www.lucky-management.com/Luke.php Just a friendly heads up.
Well, if you want to over analyze shit, Rainey was sitting with Bob Star of Yamaha and wearing yamaha blue. You think they'd run a moto2 championship using Honder engines with that show? IF they were going to do a US series I'd bet on moto3, a 600 class and some kind of opened up version of the current superbikes. Maybe a spec class using something like those KTM ~ 400cc lumpers as a spec series. Shit, that's what I'd do. I might even keep around the Harleys if someone pays to keep them out there.
I would also run combo events with Flat Track and bring back the Grand National Championship. Do stuff that is different and interesting...
Still not understanding why there isn't a spec youth class here. A "Ninja 300" cup for 14-18 year olds are what we need to build a base. Some sort of spec class with subsidized bike costs to get the kids on big tracks. The factories could sell the bikes at cost, and get all the advertising. I believe hyosung did something like that in Australia. The problem is the cost of entry. The XR1200 class has awesome racing, but you have to pay full price for the bikes, then entries. That is enough to run many participants off. Just my thoughts, but I am full of wings and on pint #5
I don't know about that. I would steal every idea that the Big Kahuna guys (forget their names right now) did and use the ones that brought in the people. I enjoyed the petting zoo at VIR. The porn chicks going at it behind the transporters while they filmed a bit less but I don't think that was the promoters. DMG did some goods things as well and they can be harvested for a few good and a lot of bad ideas.
