Bicycle racing at the olympics

Announcer on TV while the competitors are going down a winding mountain road... "This isn't MotoGP but they are going MotoGP speeds."

Uh, no.

 

This finish is bonkers though! Seemed like the Polish dude had it.

 

Did anyone get robbed?

 

I had a friend, and a good rider at that, get passed by a pedal bike while going down hill in the Alps.....

 

Must be an awful feeling. At least there were only two guys coming for him.

 

The descent has catch fences!!!!

 

Uh, yeah...Pit lane speeds.

 

I watched a chunk of that race. The last 15 kilometers was great! Didn't hear the MotoGP comment, but the racing was intense. I know nothing about their tactics but the front three were going 50+ down that mountain before the crash. I went down at that speed a month ago at Road A and I hurt for two weeks. Those guys finished the race.

I love the freakin Olympics!

 

Yeah, it was a great race. I thought the announcer said {sic} "they aren't going MotoGP speeds, but they're going pretty fast for having a thin sheet of fabric on their back and a tiny little helmet on..."

 

Girls are racing today. That mountain course looks painful.

Assuming that you're referring to the American rider that led the race for the last 10 plus miles only to be passed within the last 200 meters, DAMMIT! That was hard to watch. She faced a bit of rain in the rain forest area, which slowed her a bit, and after the other leader fell the American chick had no one to pace.
DAMMIT, DAMMIT! I know the poor girl is not happy right now.

 

They just said that she's conscious and talking. Further hospital tests needed.

Concussion and 3 broken vertebrae... ouch.

 

and people think motorcycles are dangerous... At least we can wear more than a t-shirt.

She's lucky to be alive after being thrown like a rag in to the concrete curbing.....ouch!
