The pending Concours De Competition at Barber started a discussion with my painter for the livery on my '89 V6 GSXR750. The plan originally was to put "my" paint scheme on it so its a twinkie to my 1G SVs. However, as we have discussed it, starting to consider doing a homage to one of the old school oilers from back in the day and make it a show piece of sorts to eventually show off at the Barber event. The obvious candidates leap to mind ( Yosh, JU/Hammer, etc) but I would really like to get some input for the masses and also hopefully some pics of these bikes from back in the heyday. So what's your vote? and post pics if you have any. Personally, I am partial to the Hammer bikes first and foremost.
Personal favorites of the era were the Yosh bikes and the Valvoline bikes. The Team Suzuki Endurance machines were pretty nice too.
The Ebsco 1100 looked the best with the 96 Srad tail section. One of my favorite looking bikes from that generation.
Gawd, no more Pepsi painted GSXRs. That has been done to death. Keep it simple, Yosh Big Papa, their Red Suzuka 8 hr colors or just do the colors from Yosh in those years.
I agree - the Pepsi thing not my deal. Thinking about doing a "retro mod" Valvoline/modern M4 hybrid. We will see. Keep the suggestions and the pics coming.
