They announced this at the beginning of the year. Did this thing ever get off the ground? The class isn’t listed at Indy.
Yeah but I got a feeling the one off is just to see if it works. Maybe it'll be expanded in 2021 if it succeeds but who knows. I'd like to see something similar in dirty track. lol!
That’s exactly what I was thinking. R&D write-off for the owners to go fuck around on, beyond the event?
I'd still prefer to a "retro superbike" class. The naked big bores with no or just bikini fairings. Like the GS1000s, KZ1000s and CB900f bikes from way back in the 1400's. The new Katana versus whatever else is in that naked 1000 to 1100cc range. Wide bars (ban clip ons), loud ass Kerkers, no lower fairing (other then a catch pan) so you can see the engines.
If one could get it to hook. The current recipe for success doesn’t make near Tuono power, but, would absolutely smoke one on dirt. Robby Bobby would know what a factory V-twin makes and it’s not all that much.
But a Yosh GSXR1000 K5 superbike motor should drop right into the Katana. Forks off last year's Yosh superbike in new triple clamps should handle the front and a good Ohlins boinger on the rear. You can brace the frame and swingarm but some rule about it being "stock." Make it a minimum db level instead of a max.
I think we’ve seen in the past Harley racing works but this seems to be a bit too wide open and some of these builds are crazy.
