Best college football game of the year. Doesn't even matter if one blows out the other. It's entertaining due to the history of it. Then at the end when the losing team has to stand in front of their crowd and sing their team song, and then the winners do the same. I haven't missed this game in over 40 years.
I forgot it this weekend until I saw all the cars and trucks with "Beat Army" "Beat Navy" and the other phrases to support one team or the other spelled out driving around and tooting their tooters. Weird how big this rivalry is 'round here.
^^^ I saw it in 1988 in Philly. Great fun even though Army won. Ended up having extensive business dealings with a guy that played in that game for Army 20 years down the road in life.
Being they chauffeured me and my fellow Jar Heads around the Pacific and South Pacific many moons ago...Go Navy.
The most striking thing about the game is the players. Yeah, they're young adults, but damn if they don't look like mere children. I find the perception of youth simply astonishing. These kids will be part of the backbone that defends this Nation. Kids! Held responsible and accountable to make potentially the biggest sacrifices anyone could make for their country! God Bless 'em.
Born and raised in Annapolis, and all around maritime everything and Naval Academy 3 minutes away.................GO ARMY!!!
As a very mediocre safety back in the day, I loved it. Strategy trumps all. Defense win games. Until next year.
