I was wondering the same, and was surprised Sawyer saw him. I've always thought that the two where brothers on opposite ends (good/bad, Light dark) and I took a wild guess and figured that some kind of way their must be two. A good and a Bad. And Sawyer must be One of the Bad while, Jack is one of the Good. Both have simular traits of Jacob and MiB, not so good, and not so bad. So, after watching this episode i no longer thing that the MiB and jacob represent good and evil i think they are Life and Death, that is why nether of them seem to be all good or all bad, because with life and death there is good and bad, and jacob (representing life) is mainly good but there seems to be something about him. look at what he can do he gave Richard everlasting life and his temple can restore life to the dead, whereas the Man is black can turn into the smoke monster and kill anything in his path or can turn into people but only if they themselves are dead. I also wonder if Jacob and MiB is related to Sawyer and Jack. I think in the end it will boil down to those two. Tonight episode showing Jac/MiB growing up mirrors jack/Saw struggles on the island.
ok, penultimate episode and jack is it... 2.5 hours until i can delete another season pass off my tivo. =)
Seth's update will be posted in 45 min. In the meantime, here is some of his recap from the radio show: We saw again the cut on Jack's neck and each time, he seems surprised that its there. Seth's theory is that on the island, MiB slashes his throat, ala Zoe last night. But now Jack drank the blessed water, so he has taken over for Jacob and cannot be killed by Cosmo. The candidates need to kill each other. The MiB/Cosmo cant. Jacob chose the candidates because they were all flawed. In the sideflash, those flaws are not there. Regarding that blessing, of course is was like what The Mother did for Jacob, although last night instead of wine, Jacob scooped water, blessed it and then dropped it back in the stream. So, now, is the whole river/stream/pond blessed? Seth thought that may come back as a way to kill MiB/Cosmo. In the sideflash, we saw Desmond getting everyone together to go to Jack's son concert. Hurley is on board 100% as he has seen the island world, as has Ben now somewhat. Note- first day on the beach, Kate sews up Jack. Last night on the beach, Jack sewed up Kate. So, although Seth said he didnt sleep last night because he was so excited on how this is all panning out, he really didnt have much more. He has put together about 20 scenerios on how this might end. One he offered up was the MiB/Cosmo kills everyone, he himself ends up in the sideways world and still interacts with everyone in their better life. I am in agreement that the MiB/Cosmo may not be evil. He didnt seem evil as a man, he holds to his word and he gives people choices. But, there is an obvious balance and conflict with Jacob. So, on the island, all we have left is Ben, Miles, Claire (but where is she??), MiB, Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sawyer. Jacob will be fading away. Is Richard really dead? Why does the MiB need to kill Penny? We'll see if Seth's post online goes any further........
Wow, I totally forgot about them. It was always the speculation until two shows ago that they were the "adam and eve" in the cave. I dont think we'll see them anymore. Althouth seeing Anna-Lucia again last night was a great surprise. You never know who they'll drag out from the past to pop back into the sideways flash.
given the age of the remains, i always though that was kinda silly... don't forget, the island cured rose (terminal cancer?), so (as she's stated) i don't think she's really interested in leaving. it'd be kinda nice to see eko.
anyone else get the feeling that based on Jacob's explanation last night, the middle 4 seasons were without any point? coulda wrapped this whole thing up in 2 seasons.
I think the Alta-verse was the purgatory they all lived in until they could all be reunited and move on. They were a team in life, and thus needed to move into death as a team. But I could be way off. Either way, I liked the way it ended.
Whatever it did, I wasn't left with an overwhelmingly satisfied feeling. I wasn't expecting a flow chart and in-depth explanations of everything, but how everything ended up left me with the impression that an awful lot of what has been shown to us over the years in Lost were simply plot devices with no real meaning other than to present a question or steer the story a certain way. I can understand that no matter what they did, not everyone would be happy, but I think they realized that they had no explanations for some of the things they introduced and ended up steering the plot towards what they could "explain". Lazy writing. There's no way I'll believe that this is the end they had in mind when the pilot aired. In the end, the vast majority of the questions I have concern the island itself and all the "rules". It's disappointing to realize that the most interesting aspects of the show (to me) were just meaningless "oohs" and "ahhs" to carry the story along.
