couple of other things that I found interesting/warranting a bit of thought: if Alt Reality Locke's on good terms with his Dad, how did he get paralyzed? some bit of irony that the Believer...Locke...is the one who's image ends up being used by MiB/Smokie (my favorite name for him now is Smocke). I'm not sure there's anything to it, but I find it...interesting. which Kwon is the Candidate? Jin or Sun? when Aldo had Jin at gunpoint last week, he said something to the effect of 'he might be one of them' or 'he might be on the list'...and I want to say that Kate had been ruled out with one of the Others saying she's 'not one of them' a few seasons back. now there's some context for that. why would some of the Others know the existence of the Candidates, but Richard did not? Ilana REALLY seems to know a lot but no one is questioning her about it...not even Ben.
...and really trying to figure out when the Island sank in Alt Reality...what timeline as far as before or after The Incident (or whatever would constitute The Incident in the AR)
oh and Sawyer could see the kid (probably the reincarnation of Jacob...) but Richard couldn't... it also seems like Smocke speaks in halves...1st half will give what seems to be genuine info or facts, then he flips a switch and goes into manipulation mode. just a pattern I'm wondering about.
Smocke. Love it. I'll have to pass that along to Seth. The alt reality and Locke still being in a wheelchair, that was up for some debate. Primarily, the thought goes that stuff will still happen and the show is about destiny vs fate. So, something happened to put Locke into the wheelchair, but he does not appear to want to interact with Doc anymore by tearing up the card. yeah, Illiana and her group knows an awful lot, asking in Latin about the shadow of the statue, knowing about the list, knowing who is on the list. Plus, she grabbed some of Jacob's ashes last night. I wouldnt doubt if her and her group, Jacob, Richard and Smocke were all originals on the island.
There were a lot of crossed of names on the list. I don't think that many people died from the survivors of the plane crash?
Jacob's been drawing people to the Island for centuries at this point...revisit beach scene with MiB and Jacob.
are the crossed-off names all DEAD people, or are they just no longer candidates? I assume there's some kind of criteria to be a candidate. Why couldn't some kind of screw-up get your name crossed off as well? I'm curious where the writers are going with this new, sympathetic Ben. First "smocke" points out how Jacob has been using Ben, and now Ben gives a sincere (possibly teh first time in the show) speech at Locke's burial, and apologizes for killing him? Looks like Ben has hit rock bottom... nothing left to lose. I wonder what's going to happen when/if anyone finds out that BEN actually killed Jacob.
Just like always, nothing of any consequence. Ben is 100% pure teflon. He'll get smacked around a bit and then be on his way.
What makes you say he's in good terms with his dad? Not sure if I missed a scene or not. I get the feeling that pirate looking ship that we saw in the first episode with Jacob and MiB on the beach will reveal more clues later, possibly where Ilana and her ppl came from? I agree that the direction they seem to be pushing is that Jacob was good and MiB is bad, this last episode with MiB tossing the white stone into the ocean was evidence of that.....but I cant help but wonder if we're misled on purpose and it's revealed later that the opposite is true. Regarding Richard, I've always thought of him as the equivalent of the Roman soldier who was cursed for thousands of yrs to roam the earth.....but with all this time travel, who knows.
Gemma from Sons said that she was going to invite his father to her and John's wedding when he was sitting in the tub. He didnt flinch, that would be the only clue that Locke and his father are ok.
Looks like next week is going to be where they really start answering the questions.... hopefully anyway
The episode last night was a let down. Why are they introducing new things (the light house) and just explaining them as nothing to worry about. I thought the alternate reality with Jack as a father was a good direction. But who is the mother? The woman he saved or some other island character. Since the compass in the light house was pointed at Jack I think Jack will be the next protector of the island. Did anyone see that Rosseau's (sp?) name was on the compass but crossed out. Wasn't she on the island with her husband and daughter, so which one are they referring to?
