We’ll, Beaver run (turn 1) got me good this weekend. A little high-side resulted in a shattered left wrist and a broken right hand/thumb. The first surgeon that I saw, when I got home, explain that “you could have smashed someone’s wrist with a hammer repeatedly and would have done less damage”. I’m now waiting to see a trauma specialist in either in Buffalo, NY or Erie, PA. I will defiantly need surgery on both arms/hands. The following is what sucks: - Having a shattered wrist now for 72 hours before surgery. - Being the points leaded and having the season flushed down the shitter. - Coming to grippes with the fact that my racing carrier may me over. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that offered a hand and stopped by to check on me. It’s to dam hard to type out each of your names with only four good fingers. You all know how you are. I just hope this weekend wasn’t the last time I took the grid with all my friends.
Scott, I was talking to you on Sunday, really sucks that you are banged up that bad. Let me know if you do decide to come to Buffalo and I can give you a hand if needed. Later, Don PS No pun intended
I really don't know you Scott as this was my first race, but sorry to see someone go down like that. I hope you heal well. Mack
Also, I'd make sure I used a Certified Hand Therapist after surgery, and did everything they told me to do. My husband Fred had a plate, variety of pins and screws in his left wrist courtesy of piledriving his dirtbike into the face of a washout in AZ...they're all out now and he has almost all mobility back, with no riding limitations... Good luck.
come on man, first tim, doug is gone next year now you! i have no one to hang out with man what are you trying to do! oh and you owe me money Bytch! dude call me after you get out of surgery! lol amd make sure she doesn't miss a spot lol! get well dude!
Scott, Sorry you took the big thump, but glad that you're ok, relatively. As far as it being a career ending, you're probably not even close. Give it a year, and you'll probably be ready to go. It was nice meeting your wife, and sorry that I almost deflated your bed.
Scott, Quite you're whinin dude. Once they sew you back together we'll put some braces on your wrists and have you back out on track in a couple weeks. You'll probably still run 10's at Nelson that way! :wow: Seriously, get well soon my friend. Let me know if you need anything.
Really sorry that you got banged up. I'm sure you'll be out there again, just think positive. Nikki was sad about your fall, too. She really wanted to race you on Sunday.
Damn, Scott, did you know your thumb was broken when we were at the hospital? If you go to Erie and need anything let me know... I'm real close. And like Yasserina said, do what the PT tells you and you'll be back.
A little time, some screws, some safety wire, some duct tape,..... you'll be back! You're a racer, they don't stay on the sidelines long. Besides Terrance needs somebody to chase. Good luck on your surgery(s).
I believe Mr. Collins incident was too fast into turn one, rear wheel in air, front wheel sliding, spit, launch, ouch. Or something like that. I'm sure he'll fill in better when able. It wasn't a good weekend for officials, I think three of us had bikes there and two of us crashed them. I was due, been like 4 years or sumpin.
Bitten by the Beaver Scott, sorry to hear about the surgery and the severity of the break. I feel your pain somewhat. I crashed twice yesterday. The first one was a bonehead move on my part that resulted in an off-track excursion and a resultant mini-highside. The second one was just racing (spun up the rear in turn 6 and laid the bike down). I missed the first 3 race weekends, got no points yesterday, probably won't get things back together (gotta get the leathers repaired) in time for this coming weekend, so my points are shot for the NC region. Was going to try to turn expert at the end of the year if I could make up enough points but that is probably out as well. Hey, we can start all over next year though. Don't listen to the doc when he says you can't race again. You won't know (and he won't either) until you get it fixed, get some good physical therapy, and then try it. I have to get my left ACL replaced over the winter (completely severed it playing basketball in April) and will be doing lots of PT trying to get it built back up in time for next year.
Threadjack... Hey stickman, nice to put a person with their BBS name. I was the Gixxer 750 pitted right next to you (loaned you the coat hanger/lock picker).
Both sides huh? Sounds like you are going to need some help with some of lifes most basic functions! Seriously, best of luck Scott. Hope your healing goes well.
Thanks for that hanger, you really saved the day! I really hate locking my keys in the truck. I didn't realize you crashed, we must have left before that happened. I hope you and your bike faired better than your leathers.
Damn Scott, I'm sorry to hear about your injuries. You have to be back before Mid-O next season, though. Remember you challenged Me. You just can't quit after something like that, I mean who the hell is going to keep Jeffro in line if you aren't there? He just dosen't listen to me. Both hands huh, that sucks, poor Mary. If you need help with anything (I know you are moving soon) call me. I can run over there and help you out.
