    No experience. What. So. Ever.

Shocked her mom is not throwing a fit but 18 so...

How do I present a convincing argument for something smaller

My 20 year old nephew was just after the same bike, same thing with almost no real riding experience. My brother and I found/bought him a 95 yamaha FZR 600. I bought him all quality gear and we're signing him up for the Yamaha Street/Champ school in 3 weeks.

Maybe go look at something like a Yamaha MT07?

Buy her a MSF course nearby and go with her. Make her store the bike with you and allow her to only ride with you until she's actually demonstrating good rider qualities.

    Dave K DaveK über alles!

Break down the costs of a simple tip over and then a 10 - 15 mph crash on an R6. Then show her the same for something like an SV or something like a Trumph bonneville.
And!!!!! Show her the proper gear. Not some junk helmet and a fashion leather jacket.

Going through something similar with my kid.

Grom is always the correct answer.

Tell the 18 year old to request a quote on full coverage insurance for the R6.

Something smaller? Everyone knows a turbo Busa is the best beginner bike...

Tell her to get a pit bike to play around and learn on. Then when she proceeds to fuck herself up on it like we all do on pit bikes…….tell her now multiply that by 100.

I like the odds of telling a woman and a teenager anything. I've had a great deal of success. At least said teenager does have taste.

I thought a leader bike was the best. Take her for a ride on a 600 and scare the poop out of her.

We've seen her on track in a corolla. She has no fear and ate a set of tires. I'd prefer not to see her dead.

The asphalt doesn't care how much HP your bike had. She probably won't crash any slower on a 400.

If it's her money, there's probably nothing to do except help train her and make sure she's in good gear. If it's not her money, proper parenting would be a good start.

Put a throttle limiter on it like a PW50 and hope for the best?
