I will be traveling to Notre Dame next week Thu through Sat for my daughter’s dance competition. I assume there’s going to be plenty of free time between her 4 3-minute dance routines that I’m looking to take advantage of. What’s cool around there? Entertainment? Attractions? Restaurants? My wife & daughter may plan on watching the others perform, but f@ck that noise. I’m checking things out.
That’s what my basic google searches looks to show. Was really hoping someone on here would have a gem or two.
I got into a bar fight while coaching a hockey tournament one weekend 10 years ago. For all the pomp about the school, everything around it is a dump.
it really sucks here. You can watch the corn grow. You can watch the meth heads teeth fallout. And...thats about it.
but seriously... Amish country shopping - Shipshewana get cinnamon rolls/pastry here - Country Lane Bakery 59162 Co Rd 43, Middlebury, IN 46540 The dunes are nearby. So they got that going for them.
oh $hit...the only real attraction in the area... https://www.fourwindscasino.com/southbend/ and the New Buffalo location event center https://www.fourwindscasino.com/newbuffalo/entertainment/event-calendar
Take a walk on Campus. It really is beautiful. Unfortunately, that's all there is. Hit the bookstore and pick up a T-Shirt. For the $55k/year tuition, it's tough to swallow. Food wise, Cafe Navarre and LaSalle or the upper end but I like the Carriage House. For a drink and a quick bite, check out Fiddler's Hearth.
RV Hall of Fame Studebaker Museum Notre Dame Campus Michigan is about 10 minutes north. Indiana Dunes National Park is over close to Gary (~1Hr drive or less) https://www.visitsouthbend.com/things-to-do/attractions/museums/
Chicago has a bunch of cool museums and other things if you can get away for the day. I remember when my daughter danced, my wife could give me pretty good estimates of when to come in and watch the routine. But not good enough to drive to Chicago.
Yeah. We’ll be driving through Chicago to get there on Thu. We drive down Thu. She dances Fri/Sat, then we’re heading home Sat evening. I’ll have some free time Thu night and Fri during the day … she has practice at 1:00, then performs at 4:00 … I think.
