So I drove down to Tucson this last weekend to watch some of my local racing buddies ride in the AMA Supermoto National at Mussleman Honda Circuit in Tucson, AZ such a good turnout, one race had 35 riders. It was awesome to see so many supermotos in one place. Some big name people also showed up which was cool. The weather didn't totally cooperate, high winds and a bunch of rain (in tucson, lol) cancelled some races on saturday, which they made up for on sunday. Chris Fillmore ended up taking the Open Pro #1 plate after some epic battles with Jake LaForge. anyway. my intent was to take a bunch more pics, but once the racing started, I just put the camera away. @amasupermoto on IG has tons of pics and vids from the weekend.
nikon d750 and a 85/1.4 although, a bunch of the pics on the thread were taken with a sony RXm7 point and shoot, haha
Nice shots! Always been a fan of that style of racing since watching "Superbikers" with my dad on ABC many years ago.
Very cool. I was under the impression the supermoto was deader than Julius Ceaser. Glad to see that it's not.
Watch the FIM Supermoto stuff, it's very much alive there. They have enough interest to have actual supermoto tracks (not just kart tracks), built with asphalt table tops, jumps, banked corners, some mixed asphalt/dirt tracks, it's a whole other world.
Yep the latest version of the series has been going since 2013? And they have raced in Canada, produced a TV show, ran races in conjunction with a MA race and a LRRS/CCS race, and still not too many people know about the series. Cycle News does cover the races and I wish RRW would do the same since so many roadrace guys also race SM. Oh well maybe next year RRW will cover it or at least post the results? And Metzeler won the Pro class again this year so that's 7 AMA Pro SM championships in a row.
