It's not so much that AJ and BBC are unbiased, it's just that they don't have any reason to spin OUR news so much.

Bias has been around forever. Look at all the crap William Randolph Hearst got away with when he owned most of the newspapers in the country.

I just find them less 'tabloid'.

Pretty difficult to draw comparisons between Hearst's time and now.
That level of control by one person isn't possible anymore; there are too many sources and news travels too quickly.

The news outlets are about maintaining a viewership/listeners to be able to sell advertising to companies that want the demographic they (news) retain.

They don't care about the truth, unless it attracts or retains viewers.
They don't care about bias, unless it attracts or retains viewers.
They don't care about fair, , unless it attracts or retains viewers.
They don't care, , unless it attracts or retains viewers

It's a business. They are in business to make money. They are not in business to inform us, they are not in business to serve as a watchdog on the government, They are not in business to provide neutral observations, etc. They are a business. They are there to make money. Dissuade yourself of any notions or illusions otherwise.

If you want what news outlets are to be about, get your information from several sources, weight it, and the bias and come to your own conclusion.

    CNN
    NY-Times
    Al-Jazeera in English
    BBC
    Fox News
    CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company)
    La Nacion (Argentina)
Reuters / Associated Press / United Press International

It's very easy for us (myself included) to read one, and then start to kvecth.

The problem has never been the people that seek to be informed. The problem is the people who don't
