holy shit that car is hard to drive, i'm lucky to make a lap wihtout spinning! and so hard to see out of that thing!
Fun race guys. I got hit in the corkscrew on the first lap but I forget by who. I got some damage from that so the car wasn't driving to well. Got worst as the race went and I ended up spinning twice. I had to leave at 8 anyway so after the 2nd spin I called it early. Maybe we can do it again. Jason
That was Charlie... Sorry you dropped out. We slowed down for Richard and would have done the same or stopped so you could pit and fix it. I hate that car with the fire of a thousand suns.
Wow that car sucks! Good fun though, last 7-8 min I spun and tagged the wall just enough to mess up the steering, and didn't want to pit. Not used to driving for an hour like that either, got to get a more comfortable setup!
sorry about the punt in the corkscrew...full tank cold brakes out of talent..... Have been out of race mode for to long....the rear snapped loose and pointed the car to the inside I knew it was going to end bad..I called out on teamspeak....you had the pace tonight to win...
that car is a handful even with a ton of seat time..Kenny and me hate it...but engine sounds cool to drive but limited site out of car and looosssee as hell the ft folds over and plows ect it does not like to be pushed into the corner.
Kenny and me like to drive for 2-4 hours we like long races. When they get driver swaps this game is going to rock..
It's all good it's was just a fun race. Next time I'll hop on team speak with you guys. Maybe we can race a different car next time like the mclaren if enough people have it.
I'll look seriously into this starting now. I need something to keep me occupied this winter. I kinda can't believe you do 2-4 hour races though. Doesn't that get really monotonous? I'd like to do hour races, just to get me used to concentrating that long for the upcoming endurance season. What should I be looking for in a wheel? I don't want to waste $100 when a $200 wheel will keep me happier longer.
So why subject a limited amount of drivers to that POS? Yes it sounds cool, but you can't see shit out of it. The championship race that featured top SIM and real life race drives ran the MX5. which is included in the rookie package. Why not run that or a car that is fun to drive? And it would be nice if you guys would add your names to the thread I started on the I Racing forum. Then we could discuss it over there.
I said MX5 but left it up to the others as I don't really care what we are driving. My only goal was to keep it in the arena of something that came with the trial. Personal preference would be for multi class endurance based stuff but I realize not every one will be up for the longer event and you almost need a full grid to make it entertaining. Single class stuff my preferences would be the following.... Daytona Prototype Star Mazda McLaren, Ford GT <--both GT2 based cars Radical S8R Corvette C6R Ford Falcon or the Mustang GT500 Any of those work for me. The Ford Falcon is probably the most unruly next to the Caddy and the McLaren probably the most drive friendly since it has ABS and the ECU handles throttle blips.
Multiple quality levels of wheels out there at multiple price points. Low end wheels are in the $100- $150 range. They'll provide the basics and in the case of the Logitech Driving Force GT are a good wheel with what I would say is the bottom end of the pedal range. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/driving-force-gt?crid=714 http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/products/ferrari-f430-force-feedback-racing-wheel http://us.fanatec.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=144 Middle of the road $200 to $350. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/g27-racing-wheel?crid=714 <- There are plenty of pressure based braking systems with which you can mod it. The Fanatec GT2 and GT3 slot in this price range as well. http://us.fanatec.com/RacingWheels?product_id=181 http://us.fanatec.com/RacingWheels?product_id=144 Upper end choices vary greatly and so does the price. Be prepared to drop from $400 on up to multi thousands. The Fanatec CSR when purchased with the pedal set ClubSport pedals will put at this price point. http://us.fanatec.com/RacingWheels?product_id=157 http://us.fanatec.com/Pedals?product_id=255 Thrustmasters F1 wheel is good but the price goes up and includes the pedals. Good aftermarket support for pressure based brake setups on this as well. http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/ferrari-f1-wheel-integral-t500 The current wheel in use in my rig. The Fanatec Club Sport Wheel http://us.fanatec.com/RacingWheels?product_id=262 with the GT Rim http://us.fanatec.com/RacingWheels?product_id=267 hits this price point but no pedals. I am still using my G25 pedals that I have augmented with a Perfect Pedal pressure based braking setup. http://www.perfectpedal.com/ <- Not cheap but works very well. Then you can move on to the uber expensive Frex, ECCI and custom built stuff. http://www.frex.com/gp/ http://ecci6000.com/6000_wheel_01.htm
I've also posted this on GT Planet. So hopefully we can get 10 + for this weekend. Only reason I did not join, was that I had a Windows issue, that caused me 100+ IRating points. So I was racing the Proto trying to gain some back. I did ghost for several laps, reminding me of how much I do not like driving the Caddy What I was thinking was for us to run the US tracks/configuration that motorcycles race on.
I am a total dick. I planned to race, even told my wife, 5:30 central. We then fell asleep from 5:00 to 6:00. Damn. I am in next time and dont care what car we race.
I need to look at the number of tracks that provides. Road Atlanta Road America Summit Laguna Virginia International Barber Daytona Sonoma/Sears Point Not raced by Bike.. Watkins Glen Sebring Texas Motor Speedway We might want to start with small subset to keep the cost down for those who are just getting started and may not own all the content. The dollars add up if you are purchasing all that at once.
