and they are terrible street bikes crappy gas mileage very heavy run very hot not comfortable in any way not to say it's a bad bike or anything, just not a very good "street" bike and good luck finding one that hasn't been raped
I see them listed for ungodly sums... north of $6k with high mileage. Then again I havent seen anything for sale lately that makes me want to go out buy it... except a 2010 concourse. I slept on that choice and decided against spending $8k on a ~700lb land barge.
Haven't had a street bike in years, but a buddy wants to ride to Alaska next year, I'm looking at a Triumph 800 XC. Rode one last month and loved it.
All bikes are about the same to insure (liability only) Some ideas for a fun street bike: FZ1 - 1st or 2nd gen Multistarada Versys ZRX Just a few of top of my head
I have a second 08 CBR 1000rr that I use as my street bike/backup parts bike. I added a Spiegler Bar kit and cannot believe how comfortable it now is. I love this bike....
I have an FZ1 that I like very much but that ^ is something that I've dreamed about doing. I had a CBR before my FZ1. The FZ is more comfortable but the CBR was much more exciting.
1st Gen Bandit 1200. I picked mine up for $1100 about 5 years ago & it's been the best street bike I've owned (& I've had over a dozen). I'll probably never sell it but the customizing has gotten outta hand so I also recently picked up a '98 TLS with 11K miles on it as a commuter/potential sport tourer. It also makes a very good street bike. If you want something newer & lighter I'd go for a Triumph Street or Speed Triple. Might be just above your budget though.
Damn dude, we have exactly the same taste in street bikes. I've owned all three of those, currently looking to replace all 3 I previously sold. Just gotta find the $$$$
You must have some aftermarket seat or something. I rode mine from Mpls to Road America and wanted to shoot myself in the lower back to relieve the pain. I still regret selling my 900SS.
This. I have one and it is non stop law breaking fun every time you push the starter. Ins is about $25 a month.
