Failings of the UK NHS system

    http://www.civitas.org.uk/pdf/CivitasReviewMar08.pdf
In a survey of chief executives carried out by the
Health Service Journal in 2007, 70 per cent of PCT
leaders reported restricting access to treatment.18 The
populist way to do this, couched in terms of ‘rights
and responsibilities’, is to deny treatment to people
who lead unhealthy lifestyles19 – a practice that many
PCTs are apparently carrying out for smokers and
    the obese.20 Another way is
    simply closing wards, as
    Worcestershire Acute
    Hospitals Trust did in January
    2008 due to ‘unrelenting
    pressure on resources’.21
    But where rationing is
most acute is in access to new
    medicines and procedures.

The UK spends 8.2% of it's GDP on heathcare. We spend 16%.

Do you think the people of the UK would trade their system for ours?

We spend more than any other nation on medical research to maintain the best quality medical care in the modern world. I think they'd gladly trade up because their system isn't working. They're also in a 60% income bracket and they system is still bleeding money and ineffective.

oh, and BTW move to England.

No, the US has the 37th best medical system in the world. France and Italy have the best.

Lets not go too far with citing a study made by the WHO and the UN....that's reaching..even for you my google happy socialist friend. :Poke:
Besides, didn't you see that Maine's socialized health care system is in shambles? I wouldn't take a study or opinion piece from the University of Maine seriously after what they're doing to their own public health care system.

That's good. Because without insurance, you won't get one here.

I used to go to my friend's hunting camp up in Eustis, Maine. At the general store they had a eye chart on the wall and a box of glasses taken/donated from the departed. Next to it was a mirror and a file and a box of dentures.

He is able to chose to get one or not here whether he has insurance or not. Its just up to him to finance it.

He does not have that choice in UHC countries. Unelected bureaucrats get to decide who is worthy and there is no way for a person not deemed worthy to get that transplant with out coming to America or the black market.

Don't tell bill about the fitness tests you have to take in order to use New Zealand's plan if you want to become a citizen. To qualify for their unicare plan, you have to be of a certain level of health.

I don't wanna burst his little fantasy healthcare bubble. Then again, I doubt any level of statistics, facts, thousands of pages on this thread, etc will change his mind about the ramcare plan.

Actually your best bet would be to go to India or Thailand where you can get a transplant for around 20K. Heart transplantation is no longer the state of the art in surgeries. Not sure how they get the hearts and I'm not sure you would want to know.

Of course once you got back you'll still need to come up with a couple of thousand each month for immunosuppressive therapies and follow up care.

What if I just drank a whole bunch of alcohol? That'll supress your immune system AND kill any bad germs...two birds, one stone
