Anybody dealt with this infection long term?

Our daughter (19 years old) tested positive for it last October. She has never really recovered. She has gone from a being a very active kid to being lethargic and has constant gastrointestinal issues. We’ve been to tons of doctors including our private doctor who has usually been really helpful. We’ve done many tests, upper gi, supplements, prescriptions, gastric emptying scan, etc. Nothing has helped.

I’m looking for any ideas. Especially if someone has dealt with this or if anyone knows an expert we should contact. I’m familiar with the story of Gordon Ryan (jiu jitsu fighter). Her journey has been almost identical to what he described.

It sucks watching your kid suffer.

Long-term antibiotics are usually effective in eradicating the h. Pylori. Dr. Burbridge at Duke is a specialist in this. Google her. I can also say something to her if you want. We used to be neighbors. She knows her stuff.

Carnivore diet. Give her steak and eggs in the morning and a big ass steak in the late afternoon.

    no, I’m not joking.

She would barf at even the mention of that. Eating is a real struggle.

Yeah well there’s solutions, and there’s bandaids.

Carnivore diet has been shown and is continuing to mount evidence for being a cure for many reactive conditions. H pylori among them.

For further context, we believe that the H Pylori is gone. It seems like we are dealing with gi damage done by the bacteria and maybe more so from the treatment.

Is she on Prilosec or similar medication?

we are evolved to eat meat. All the other shit we consume is either unnatural for us or was eaten sparingly when ever we found it in the wild. Gut reactions have been fixed with eating just meat/organs/salt/water.

    try it. No processed meat.

Busting out my Anthropology degree here. We evolved as omnivores just like the Great Apes. The simplest tell is our teeth. Incisors for cutting. Canines for tearing. Premolars for chewing. Molars for grinding and crunching. When a person eats they instinctively move food around to the correct teeth for the job. I encourage everyone to think about what teeth they are chewing with for various foods. It's a 'huh, well I'll be damned" moment. :)

Now we don't have as much mid face prognathism as the other apes and our digastricus and sagittal muscles don't rival the great apes and that's probably due to our bipedal locomotion and the increased efficiency of carrying less weight. The lighted ones could travel farther and faster than the heavier ones and were more successful with gathering resources. Plus big brain led to tool use which led to big brains having more successful reproduction rates than meat heads.

Okay, I don't know all those big words, so I'll just retort with this...

Seriously, though. I hope you find something to help your daughter (OP). I'm having some issues myself, and it's miserable.

see I’m not sure I agree with that. We are capable of omnivorous diets yes… but I’m personally not convinced that once we started hunting with tools that we utilized those plant eating teeth nearly as much up until agriculture. Cooking meat and eating seafood (especially once we reached the tip of Africa) is what helped our brains grow. I have a hard time believing prehistoric people would opt for plants/vegetables other than sparingly when meat was readily available. Chimpanzees hunt meat whenever possible. Including insects. Most of the plants we eat today are genetically modified, the original plants were not tasty. For a reason. A recent Harvard study admitted something like an 80-90% reduction in symptoms for many various conditions while on carnivore.

That apple sure tasted damn good though, with thew added bonus of not running away.... :D

But this has nothing or little to do with the serious subject at hand.

    Back to regular programming.

Fecal implant seems to do interesting things but I've no clue if related to this particular illness.

You can choose to disagree, but my degree in Anthropology has me agreeing with Jed. Dentition doesn't lie, unless you don't belive in evolution.

I'll ask my parents. Both have had and still have some pretty big GI issues, Colitis, Cancer etc . I'll post a response if they know anything but otherwise you, your daughter, and your family and are in my prayers.
