Dude. The video for “Ambitious”. Donnie Osmond. Singing. The only part of the video I remember. Try to stay on the path.
What? No love for Hervé Villechaize? I think it should also be noted that he discovered and showcased a good number of female players. (Jennifer Batten, Tal Wilkinfeld, Rhonda Smith, Carmen Vandenberg, Lizzie Ball, Anika Nilles, Veronica Bellino, etc.)
Out of a career from the early 60s to him touring last year and still playing beautiful guitar pieces you go off the path and mention that singer? Wtf and now you have to listen Beck's Bolero 40 times
Oh yeah. Now I remember Tatoo in the video, too. It ain't like I've seen the video in the past 30 fucking years either. I hit my head a lot between now and then.
RIP A guitar playing co-worker of mine back in the late 90's saw him something like 3 times in 3 years. He said Jeff played the same exact spotlight solo at each concert. The solo was amazing, but he heard no variation in 3 different shows. That was kind of disappointing to hear about someone so lauded for such greatness.
1. Playing 3 times, note for note, is pretty impressive. 2. Most fans never got to see him. Kudos to Beck for knowing what they wanted to hear for perhaps their only opportunity.
Jon Butcher or Jon Butcher Axis ??? "Pictures from the Front" is actually in the car CD player now. My pal Ronnie Lee Sage was on drum kit for that album.
“If you use a pick, you’ve got several fingers which are just redundant, they’re not doing anything – but with five fingers you can do all kinds of stuff,” he told Guitar World in the mid-80s.
Vince Gill can chicken pick with the best of them and he uses a plectrum. But Jeff Beck was a true one of a kind player
