Just had my first tiramisu. I figured it was time. Didn't quite live up to the hype. Good at first, started to feel halfway through it like I was ingesting way too much sugar. Should have quit a couple of bites before the end. Those last two were hard to get down. The question I've had since first hearing the word of should decades ago remains: why does it have a Japanese name?
Small amounts. Three bites at most and after that it starts to become a chore to end. Don’t know if you drink espresso but those three bites with an espresso is the trick.
I used to be somewhat of an aficionado of American tiramisu. Was on a mission for 20 years to find the best, which I did, at a place in Dana Point, California. Then I had it in Italy and I had to throw out all my experience, because the real tiramisu was nothing like what I was used to. There's an authentic Sicilian restaurant here in Red Lodge that has the real stuff. They make it at your table. Its OK, but I prefer the American version
I often hear about poor Tiramisu. Any dessert done poorly so often is not a good dessert. How often do you hear of a bad warm brownie with vanilla ice cream? Never.
