bought myself a 100 gallon feed tub last week, filled it up 2/3 with water, dumped a cooler full of ice into it and hopped in for 5 min, including 20-30 s dives.

I sometimes go to a banya here that has a cold plunge (~40 degree F water). Feels good after spending time in the 200 Deg F sauna.

That was after most of the ice has molten. Need to get a thermometer. For science. Apparently, the recovery effects are tremendous.

This is the routine in Russia: banya getting beat with birch branches, ice cold pool plunge, shot of vodka, repeat. I miss it.

 

The place here is full of eastern Europeans. Russian is the dominant language of the bathers, followed by Polish, Spanish, and then English. You'd feel right at home. The place has food and drinks, too.

 

Circulated chilled water. There are two waterspouts filling the pool and circulating the water. It also has chilled water drench showers.
