Im looking to start "bulking", I am new to the stuff, and looking for some good advice. I think I got a routine down but not sure. Any expierenced lifters here?
hawk, im not looking to get HUGE, i just wanna put some muscle on, and than go into a cut. Im not looking to be a bodybuilder etc Im looking for more of a "beach" body I guess you can say? but not a stick with abs.. I want some mass.
Not an expert here, but I can tell you it's as much or more about diet than the actual lifting. You wanna get huge, you're looking at a lifestyle, not just lifting weights X times a week.
Consistency with the gym and diet. Like mentioned it's a lifestyle. At least an hour a day in the gym 5 days a week and watch the calories. Check out Bodybuilding.com. Great sight for everything.
^ +1 DONT use any of the designer supplements. They will destroy your liver and kidneys. I learned the hard way that just because it's legal doesnt make it healthy. I used SuperDrol for a summer before it was banned. You could buy it at the healthfood store. Turned out to be slightly more hardcore than most ilegal oral steroids. I did put on 35 lbs and could bench a truck though. Eat clean, use a protein supplement and dont get too into it and you'll enjoy it.
If you have the genetics it should not take much to get a beach body. Eat right, cross train, and follow any military style training (basic).
Listen to what those ^^^ guys said. Don't get too serious with it. I did it and enjoyed it for 7-8 years but I've regretted it for 20+. Your tendons and joints will NOT be happy as you get older!
If you want to gain wait look into some old school Mike Mentzer HIT training. Big, heavy movements coupled with lots of good, clean eating will pack on the muscle.
+1 You would be amazed at what 20 minute lifting sessions will do if you do quality lifts. Make sure you include at least barbell squats, chins, and bench.
+1 The benefits outweigh the penalties for me Optimum Nutrition Whey protein has helped me make some nice lean muscle gains with my workout
