    Assume under normal circumstances:
A plane must have lift, Movement of air under and above wings, to fly.
The only way a plane can move forward on the ground is for the wheels move forward a distance,( rotating is not forward movement).

If you cannot agree with the above my argument does not work.

    Normal Runway(stationary)
    1: Engines fire
2: Throttle is used and creates thrust.
3: Thrust acts on the body of the plane.
4: The thrust acting on the body transfers to movement of the wheels.
EX. The thrust acting on the body moves the wheels at 5 RPM. The ground is stationary, so when the wheels rotate at 5 RPM the plane moves forward at ( circumfrence of wheelX5 distance per min)
Result: Thrust acting on the body and transferring to movement of wheels propels the plane forward to takeoff speed.

Conveyer Runway( Matching exact wheel speed in opposite direction).
    1: Engines fire
2: Throttle is used to create thrust.
3: Thrust acts on the body of the plane.
4: The thrust acting on the body transfers to movement of the wheels.
5: The runway instantaniously starts rotating to counter the wheel movement.
EX. Thrust acting on the body of the plane moves the wheels at 5 RPM. The runway now roatates the other direction at the exact speed(circumfrence of wheelX5). The wheels have no forward movement. They are rotating in the same space. Since the plane is on the ground the wheels must move forward in order for the plane to move forward.
Result: No forward movement of wheels = no forward movement of plane = no lift under wings = no takeoff.

Just thought I would take a swing at this brain teaser:D

Don't be a dumbass. Think this through a little more. Then read the whole thread, and the other one. Then come back here and explain how you are wrong.:D

    GixxerBlade Oh geez

That's not a Shitter (CH-53E). What is it?
The Shitter will lift the entire turntable spinning or not. :D

    I've never heard of this.
Can someone explain in great detail what this is about?

No, No wind over the wings = no lift. the wheels can spin as much as they want but that plane is not going anywhere.

Ok, I'm bored. Can you explain that a little more?

    Okay here it is.
Lets look at a car. A car moves by creating friction on the ground to propel it forward.
An airplane uses its engines to propel forward. It will take-off.

This question should be one of those determining factors in hiring interviews.

Interviewer: So, does the plane take off?
    Applicant: No.
    Interviewer: <hits applicant in the head with tack hammer> You're a dumbass...Neeeeext!

An airplane cannot move forward while on the ground unless its wheels move forward....

Geeze, the plane will take off. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to do some research in regards to physics.

I'm adding this to the list.

So how do seaplanes take off? I want a seaplane.

Yeah sure, but what if the sea were moving backwards?
    Duh

Go back to physics class, you obviously failed.

What if the sea ran as deep as the stupid around here?

We'd be living in waterworld, and Kevin Costner would be prophetic

    No racing today:(

I think we need more examples of why it WON'T take off!
Anybody have a cross sectional pic of a wing and how air travel acts over it?????:D

    Just doin my part

  20. V5 Racer

    V5 Racer Yo!

Well, if the little wheels are extended on the seaplane, and a crosswind is blowing...
