wasn't there discussion before about wd-40 causing o-rings in chains to have issues? I always liked the spray-on chain lub.

When I raced MX all we ever did after a day was clean the chain (usually with gas) and then hit it with WD40. WD works great but you have to clean and re-apply after every use.

I use wd40 as a cleaner, and use 80/90 gear oil as a lubricant.

    Tunersricebowl Fog, onward through.

The "WD" stands for water dispersent formula #40.
It was developed for the military to lift water out of parts that should not be wet, and was/is not intended to be a lubricant.
It works well as a starting fluid and a penetrating cleaning fluid but it drys to a gummy residue.
I use BG foaming spray chain lube, nobody makes a better lube IMHO.

Clean with wd40, then use some spray on stuff. Never had a problem.
