Original drive train. Just 5 years to do it. Average of 548 miles per day, every day for 5 years straight. She delivers auto parts and other small packages 24/7. I'm impressed. Hyundai found out and gave her a 2019 Elantra. I think she is from the KC area. Story is here: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a25645830/hyundai-elantra-million-miles/
Apparently they are. Hyundai verified the mileage with service records, VIN history and even drivetrain manufacturing stampings. In the video she talked about driving it to 1.5M or even possibly 2M. To do 1M in just 5 years though. That's a whole lot of seat time.
My wife has a 2012 Elantra she bought new, she only has 100,000 miles on it, but has only had to do oil changes, tires, and brakes. It's been a great car for her. I'm sending her that link to let her know what she has to keep it for the next 54.5 years
548 miles a day, at 8 hrs of driving a day, that's an average speed of 68.5 mph. Stand by, my BS meter is rattling...
I've seen a couple of documented Toyotas (both Tacomas) with over a million on them. One guy delivered nuclear material to labs, hospitals whatnot. I can't remember what the other did but Toyota made a big to-do about inviting him to the NA head quarters.
At 10 hrs, only 54.8. Easy peasy. Some people don't mind hard work. What if, in additional to hourly pay, she gets $0.50/mile? That's $1918/week, tax free. $99,736/year.
A friend of mine had a delivery business that he used 6-8 Corollas... lowest mile one had ~400,000... most were over 500,000 when sold. He would buy them by the car carrier load!
If she was driving from one location to another to drop stuff then back once a day to get that mileage maybe, but if your making stops at multiple locations that eats a lot of time up. I can see fleet vehicles with multiple drivers doing this. I can see semi's and trucks that tow loads for a living across the country doing this. A single lady delivering auto parts, not so much.
Watch the video in the link. She loves to drive and found a way to make money doing it. I bet her longest days are 14 hrs max.
548 miles per day. Year round. All day. Every day. For 5 years straight. No. Hell no. They might as well say she went to the moon.
That is impressive indeed. Matt Farah from The Smoking tire is a couple thousand miles aways from doing it on his Lexus also on stock engine/trans. Highway miles are very light on cars. My father has a 2011 Acura TL AWD with a stick shift. 310,000 miles on stock clutch.
