Paris is meh and Bally's wouldn't be my first choice. Of the two, Bally's. Really, it doesn't matter all that much.
The conference I'm attending is at Bally's so I want to be close - last year I spent more on cabs than I did for food. You have any recommendations for something that is close (very short walk) to Bally's?
Agreed, they are literally right next to one another. If those are your only choices go with the better rate, or in this case stay where your conference is at anyway. Although, I would suggest the Real World Suite at HR, was there 2 weeks ago. We had our own bowling alley
If the conference is at Bally's and you can get a good rate, there's your answer. I did the off the strip thing once and got a sick condo for like $60 a night but the cab costs soon added up to close to the cost of the condo. I like the Venetian but that's quite a walk from where your conference and not worth the effort.
There are some nice hotels (Wynn, Aria, etc.) that are cheaper, but after I looked at my receipts for cabs last year, I decided to spend it a bit more on hotels to avoid the cab fares.
Wynn and Aria are both very nice, haven't stayed at Luxor since 2005 but I heard they've renovated since then. My buddy is host at the pool party at Aria (Liquid) which is always a good time so I like it at Aria. Realistically what are you looking for? If you are just looking for a place to sleep at night and be close to your conference honestly I would just stay where the conferences are at. Make your life simple. Do these conferences have discounts for staying at the hotel they are being held at?
They are both fairly meh hotels. I'd look at Caesars, the HR or the MGM for a slightly nicer room with a short walk.
I stayed there once 15 years ago. I thought it was boring and felt far away from all the places I wanted to hang out in the evening. No current information.
Paris and Ballys have the same owner/management. I'm not a fan of the strip, so I usually stay at the Residence Inn over on Paradise. Closet to the halls of the LVCC where I have to work when I'm there. You can make your own meals, and with the money you save on room, rent a car.
If I remember correctly you can walk thru the casinos of either one and end up in the other so you shouldn't be needing a taxi either way.
From someone that used to stay at both many many times. Choose Paris over Ballys(better food options, casino is nicer and rooms are a tad nicer). There is an indoor walkway that connects the two which is nice if it's 200 degrees outside. Across the street is Caesars which is way better, just a bit more expensive. If it's within the company travel policy I'd stay there.
Wynn and Aria are cheaper than Ballys? Weird. Anything Harrahs/Flaminigo/Linq are all a block away and still Caesers properties like Ballys and Paris. B&P are connected inside through a little shopping area. You can also stay at the Rio and use the free shuttle to any Caesers property. Rio is usually cheaper being off the strip, they also serve high end booze as comps when you're playing. If this is a normal conference thing - absolutely get the players club cards if you play at all.
NEVER stay at the conference hotel unless you want the world of hookers/blow to intertwine with the world of work.
