No, it was the Democratic Party that supported slavery. It was the Democratic Party that stood against Civil Rights Amendments. So, you're irrational in your assessment.
Thank you. I was on a self-imposed sabbatical. Every once in a while I have to get away from the politics. It's fun to argue, but there's other things in life. Concentrating on the negatives too much isn't good for the soul. Friday it was almost 60 here in NH and the snowpack was melting. That's good for the soul. Come on springtime!
It's losing. And you can be cleverer than this. Slavery was abolished 150 years ago and the civil rights act was passed almost 50 years ago. What we're talking about is the last four years, where the GOP has alienated pretty much every demographic except southern white males. Google the McCain Belt. Or look at the latest Gallup poll. Republicans support for Obama just went from 27 to 42% in one week.
Some of the Bush admin DoJ documents were released. It's a good thing you trust your presidents and don't need any of those democratic “checks and balances” thingies. Just to recap: Dubya believed that he had the inherent power to suspend the First amendment, the Fourth amendment and the Posse Comitatus act, he could ignore the Geneva conventions, he had the power to kidnap anyone in the US or world (including US citizens), he could make them permanently disappear, he could torture them, he believed all this was entirely legal and he believed it was important not to consult/inform Congress. Putin must've been jealous. :wow:
