Ken Hill @khill on a Graves R6 around Laguna Seca with data. subtle braking while leaning until he's happy with his speed and direction ->trail braking subtle throttle cracking-> load the rear tire in a smooth fashion, prepare it to take the heavy acceleration load. Always repositioning his hand on the throttle tube after braking for optimum throttle control. awesome video.
watching the onboard data split screen, outlines the beauty and almost "cheat factor" of auto blip.. much more consistent front brake pressure while downshifting. back in 2006 i had AIM data on a gsxr1k. it was shocking to me just how much my brake psi varied while having to manually blip during downshifts.
True but there's also the "beauty" of doing everything by yourself. This video of Blake Young aroung COTA working hard on a non-R GSX-R just makes me wanna ride.
I stopped blipping where it was a really hard braking section because of this. When your beside someone that isn’t blipping and you are you can see that they brake just a bit later because they don’t loose that little bit of pressure.
I never blipped my SV ever because of exactly what you're describing. I simply held the clutch in long enough on entry to match the engine speed and fed it out Tom Kipp style. Not easy, but I thought it was the fastest method without upsetting the chassis. Worked for me. I've always wanted to ride a bike with the auto blip.
What is this ... "blipping" you diesel jockeys are on about? Clamp the brakes, bang through as many downshifts as you need, then tip in and feed it the gas!
