    I was being paid by the company that I paid for long term disability, and before that, same thing for short term disability.
    When you work, those things are available most of the time.
    One of the requirements of the long term disability insurance is that you apply for SS disability.

    Yeah, most/many private long term disability plans are predicated on forcing people onto SS disability.

    What happened to your private disability when you turned 65 or 66?
