Has anyone here taken the middle layer out of the head gaskets or decked the heads? If so, has anyone done a before and after dyno run to see what the results were? Just curius...

Did you adjust the cam timing at the same time?

I have run oem gaskets with stock, 2 layer and 1 layer configs. Every one made a noticable difference. I went from 3 to 1 layer on a stock bore, but superbike otherwise, motor and the difference was tangible everywhere. Once the big superbike motor was together I ran two layers. We blew a head gasket at nashville, pulled the thing apart, relaced the studs and just put the middle layer back in between the normal two outer layers and ran with no problems, however, the power loss was noticable. If you choose to run a single layer gasket, be sure to do it with one of the outer layers (1 oem gasket gets you two). Never the inner layer. I would not run single layer with anything above stock disp.
